These Lake Mead Camping Sites Are Open Right Now
Camping at Lake Mead is the perfect way to safely enjoy the outdoors with friends and family this year. With social distancing still in effect, many people have been renting houseboats, traveling by RV, and visiting campsites as an alternative to staying in hotel rooms.
If you’re looking to soak up some sun, breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors, here’s which campsites are currently open in Arizona and Nevada.
Open Campsites
Many of Lake Mead’s camping sites in Arizona and Nevada are open and ready for fall and winter visitors. When trying to decide which campsite to call home for a few nights, write down (or make a mental note) of what you want to see and do first. If you want to fish, choose a campsite within walking distance of the lake. If you want to rent watercraft, choose a campsite next to a marina, and so on.
Arizona
Willow Beach – Includes 28 full-service RV sites, 9 tent camping sites, a restaurant, 24-hour shower facility, laundry facility, fishing pier, marina with boat rentals, fire rings, and picnic tables. Check their website for availability and reservations.
Katherine Landing – Offers 24 full-service RV sites, 173 camping sites, a marina, café, restrooms, showers, bbq/fire ring, tables, and laundry facilities. The Katherine Landing campgrounds are operated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Temple Bar – Consists of 10 full-service RV sites, over 100 camping sites, a marina, restrooms, grills, shade, and a dump station. Sites at Temple Bar are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Nevada
Callville Bay – Holds 5 full-service RV sites, and 52 camping sites with a marina, restrooms, running water, dump stations, grills, picnic tables, and shade. Camping sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Callville Bay’s full-service marina also offers houseboat and watercraft rentals.
Cottonwood Cove – Has 72 full-service RV sites, and 126 campsites with a marina, motel, cafe, picnic area, running water, restrooms, laundry facility, fire rings, volleyball court, shuffleboard, and a horseshoe pit. Cottonwood Cove campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Boulder Beach – Contains 148 tent/RV camping sites, tables, fire pits, grills, running water, and restrooms. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at Boulder Beach.
Las Vegas Bay – Offers 84 tent/RV camping sites in a lush and shady area. Trails, launch ramps, fishing piers, marinas, and restaurants are reachable by a 20-minute car ride. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Echo Bay – Consists of 37 tent/RV camping sites, a picnic area, boat launch, and a store. Anglers enjoy this camping site due to the many coves nearby that can be accessed by foot or boat. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
